Freedom is the famous 'wild' beach ten minutes by longtail from busy Patong: powder-white sand, turquoise water and jungle instead of hotels. The contrast with Patong — barely 2 km away — is hard to believe.
Reach it by longtail from Patong or Tri Trang (800–1,200 THB round trip with wait), or by a steep 20-minute path down from the Karon road. Bring water and snacks; there's little shade after midday, so come early.
