Do I need a visa for Phuket?
Many nationalities get a free visa-exemption stamp on arrival (commonly 30 or 60 days — check your country's allowance), extendable once at immigration. For longer stays see the visa guide (DTV, LTR).

November to April — dry, calm seas, ideal swimming. Peak prices are Christmas–New Year and February. Weather by month.

Can you drink tap water in Phuket?
No — bottled only (14–20 THB for a large bottle). Brushing teeth and washing with tap water is fine; cafe ice is factory-made and safe.

Is Phuket safe?
Yes, for tourists the island is safe — serious crime against visitors is rare. The real risks are scooters (the top cause of injuries), sun, rough seas and pickpockets in crowds. Insurance and common sense cover most of it.

Monkeys at viewpoints and temples are used to people and may grab food, bags or phones. Don't hand-feed them, hide your things, and don't show them food. A bite means a doctor visit (rabies risk).
